From: Marianne Murphy-Orland

Who couldn’t do with a good laugh these days? A chuckle, a chortle, a giggle, a potential guffaw? Tom Orland and Carla Gordon share the stage for an evening of playful parodies, comical covers and original originals. (AI thought that was funny…)

Tom is an award-winning songwriter who has performed at the Bluebird Café in Nashville, Victory Gardens, Davenport’s, and the Chicago Cultural Center. He is one of the founders of the Songwriter’s Circle at the Old Town School of Folk Music which has been meeting for 25 years, and produced and hosted the songwriters showcase series North by Southport at Shuba’s. On April 1st he launches A Taste of Funny, an annual-ish pairing of songwriters doing mostly funny stuff.

Singer/songwriter Carla Gordon is a proud recipient of Chicago Cabaret Professionals Gold Coast Award. Her original songs have been performed by singers nationwide and aired on WFMT‘s Midnight Special. Her show “Blacklisted: Songs McCarthy Didn’t Want You to Hear” has toured to critical acclaim. Chicago Tribune called Carla “a major player in Chicago Cabaret“. Cabaret Scenes magazine called her a “honey-voiced wisecracker“ and Smash Magazine wrote “You’ll love her and want to take her home.“Carla says, “if you do please toast my bagel.“

Join them with Musical Director, Beckie Menzie, and Guest Wife Marianne Murphy-Orland for a night of laughter and music, as they poke fun at everything from politics to pop culture, love to lunar events.
