Hello all! 

I'm excited to be presenting a show at Davenport's Piano Bar for the first time on Saturday, February 10. I love learning the stories behind the tunes when I perform and that's how I came across Alec Wilder's book American Popular Song: The Great Innovators. It's considered a reference book, but if you've ever read it, I'm sure you remember what makes it unique: all of Wilder's snarky opinions! He basically roasts all of your favorite tunes from the Great American Songbook. That is the inspiration for this show. 

I'll be joined by a couple of incredible jazz musicians and in between each tune, I'll read a quote from Wilder's book about the song. Some will make you laugh. Some might even make you think about the tune in a new way. 

If you haven't heard Mike Allemana or John Sutton, just know that they're worth the price of admission! I've been singing jazz for years now and I'm excited to dip my toe into the world of cabaret. I hope you'll join us!
