www.marymonicamusic.com MaryMonica has delighted cabaret audiences in Chicago at Toulouse on the Park, The Gentry, Voltaire, Chicago Cultural Center, The Royal George Theater and The Mercury Theater. She is pleased to have debuted her shows Sepia Tones: The Music of Dorothy Dandridge and The Summer Knows (lyrics of Alan and Marilyn Bergman) to critical acclaim at Davenport’s. In addition, Ms. Thomas was given the honor of performing her French cabaret for the grand opening of the prestigious Le Meridien hotel on Michigan Avenue, and Maxim’s on the Gold Coast. She has performed at other landmark hotels and clubs such as Windsor’s Cigar Lounge in the Palmer House Hilton, Philander’s at the Oak Park Carlton, The Club at Symphony Center, and the University and Standard Clubs in Chicago. Sepia Tones was named #1 Cabaret show of 2002 in Chicago by Jeff Rossen of Cabaret Scenes Magazine, and Ms. Thomas is the recipient of the 2002 After Dark Award for Outstanding Cabaret Artist. Ms. Thomas attended the 1998 Eugene O’Neill Cabaret Symposium in Waterford, Connecticut after being one of 35 auditionees chosen from a nationwide search. At the symposium, she had the unforgettable opportunity to learn from the best, as she was coached by master teachers such as Julie Wilson, Margaret Whiting, Carol Hall, and Kay Starr. MaryMonica is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Chicago with a degree in Communications. She started her career as a singer/dancer, and appeared regionally in musicals at Drury Lane Oakbrook, Apple Tree Theater, Candlelight Dinner Theater, Pheasant Run, and Northlight, where she recorded the Chicago Theatres' on-the-air premiere of Working, starring Charles Durning. On the small screen, you can see MaryMonica in commercials for Empire Carpet, Wallner and Associates, the National Association of Convenience Stores, and Sears Homelife. She has also done radio voiceovers for Miller Brewing Company and Carrier, soundtracks for the independent films Wasting My Time, and Tollbridge to Iowa, and the jingle for Indian Lakes/ Nordic Hills resorts. In addition to her singing career, MaryMonica is the Entertainment Coordinator and DJ for Mystic Blue Cruises at Navy Pier, where she enjoys training interactive DJ’s and keeping folks on the dance floor all night long! MaryMonica enjoyed a six-month entertaining contract on the high seas aboard the luxury cruiseship the Radisson Seven Seas’ Navigator, and you can find her these days a little closer to home, aboard The Odyssey dinner cruiseship at Navy Pier, where she is the vocalist for the Emerald Deck Band, UpBeat.
