Roberta Miles is a romantic that sings jazz. As she interprets standards and ballads by such great American composers as Gershwin, Porter, Rodgers, and Arlen, she creates a soulful, sultry atmosphere. Her goal is to use the lyrics to speak to you and with you; to sooth, and sometimes taunt. Ms. Miles’ hope is that these musical masterpieces will bring a touch of beauty and perfection to a world that is, all too often, unkind. As another expression of her musical goals she is a founding member of Chicago Cabaret Professionals.
General concert programs include jazz standards and ballads featuring songs by such composers as Cole Porter, George Gershwin, Harold Arlen, Jerome Kern, Frank Loesser and many more. Programs can be tailored to highlight the music of a specific composer or to fit in with a desired theme.
Miles has recently encapsulated the beauty of her live performances on her latest cassette titled Body and Soul.
