MICHELLE GREENBERG
singer, pianist

Singer-Pianist Michelle Greenberg has brought her warm jazzy style to several CCP shows, including "An Evening At the London House" with the Judy Roberts Trio and several Holiday Show Benefits.

Michelle began her career in Paris in an underground jazz Cabaret, Le Chevalier du Temple, where her gig went from 1-4 in the morning. Singing for her supper "by night," she spent her days learning to swing, studying recordings of Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan as well as Brazilian vocalists like Elis Regina and Gal Costa.

For 20 years, Michelle has performed at events and celebrations with some of Chicago’s finest musicians and bands, and in many North Shore venues, including the former North Shore Sheraton, where she was house pianist (and singer) for three years.

Michelle sings in Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish, French, and Yiddish (having performed with the Maxwell Street Klezmer Band and the Chicago Klezmer Ensemble.). Still, she is most at home with the American standard songbook as expressed through the intimate art of the singer-pianist.

Michelle recently completed a year-long run, singing and playing Wednesday evenings at the Coq d'Or room in the Drake Hotel, establishing herself on Chicago’s jazz-cabaret scene.
